Renders of Purpose-Built Venue in Riyadh Revealed for World Defense Show

Feb 22, 2021

Riyadh, 22 February 2021 – World Defense Show (WDS), Saudi Arabia’s flagship international defense event, today unveiled renders of a state-of-the-art exhibition venue located on the outskirts of the Kingdom’s capital, Riyadh. The venue will be custom-built for World Defense Show and outfitted with world-class facilities designed to ensure the ultimate visitor experience.

The World Defense Show venue will be finalized in phases throughout 2021, in preparation for the inaugural event in March 2022. With an unrestricted area of approximately 800,000 sqm, the venue will be primed to accommodate the inaugural event as well as planned expansions for future editions of the Show, now cemented biennially in the global event calendar.

The magnitude of this one-of-a-kind event, focused on defense integration and interoperability, will be evident in the venue’s physical capabilities, including a 3km-long and 50m-wide runway where live demonstrations of air power will fly over static aircraft and land equipment displays. An interactive on-site command center, equipped with the latest systems and technologies from the world’s leading defense companies, will showcase integration and interoperability across the various domains. From world-class hospitality suites and meeting rooms, attendees will have 360° views of the runway and adjacent areas hosting live displays and demonstrations.

With design elements inspired by traditional Saudi architectural styles, the venue floorplan is segmented by geography across two 56,000 sqm exhibition halls, positioned to border the outdoor product display areas. Within these zones, attendees will experience knowledge-sharing and networking sessions, engaging programs and tech-powered, immersive experiences offering a window into the future of defense.

When asked what visitors can expect from the inaugural defense event, Shaun Ormrod, Chief Executive Officer of World Defense Show, responded: “World Defense Show has found its home with a fully-equipped venue capable of bringing to life our global platform for defense interoperability on an unprecedented scale. We structured the venue around the show’s objective to facilitate valuable contacts and exchanges across local and international defense industry stakeholders. Attendees can also expect their well-being to be a top priority as we continuously monitor developments and implement precautions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The WDS Operations team is working diligently to ensure the event upholds the highest public health standards.”

At World Defense Show, visitors will experience Saudi Arabia’s culture of hospitality and bolstering business landscape through a design concept that centers around accessibility, entertainment, and community in order for every participant to benefit from everything the event has to offer.
