WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS:

KSA has the ambition for the World Defense Show to be the world’s leading defense event by 2030, superior to IDEX, DSEi and renowned throughout the world. An international exhibition team is being assembled in Riyadh to develop an event that will showcase all five sectors of the defense industry - Land, Air, Sea, Satellite and Security.

 

As part of that objective, we wish to recruit deputy who will support the Army/Land sector Director that can provide international land insights to benefit the show proposition. This person will also be expected to provide liaison between the Executive Team, Display Support Team and key Army/Land contacts to ensure world class Army/Land representation at the World Defense Show.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Deputise for the Land Display Director, as required
  • Engage between key Saudi Army/International military contacts regarding display and static participation at WDS working with CCO and Commercial Team
  • Work alongside Head of Operations to advise on and execute technical aspects of Land elements of Live and Static displays
  • Work with Ops team to ensure technical services and infrastructure aspects of the display support fully the dynamic and presentational requirements of OEMs and exhibitors
  • Provide the commercial team with expertise in relation to assets and technical considerations
  • Advise the commercial team on cultural and language etiquette from an Army perspective
  • Be first point of contact for Head of Operations, Flying and Naval Display Directors on technical and engineering aspects of Land equipment and assets
  • Represent Land interests on the Display Safety Committee and advise on Land aspects of SHEQ where applicable.
  • Advise on technical aspects of equipment and exhibits provided by OEMs, participating Armed Forces and individual exhibitors, including any specific requirements for installation, presentation and dynamic requirements, including, for example, lifting equipment and broader G/J4 and equipment service support (electrics, gases etc.).
  • Support Land Director in devising and executing overall scheme for demonstration and exhibiting of Land equipment including integration with C5ISR, naval and air assets/joint operations capabilities, weapon systems and user experiences (e.g. track and/or live range experiences)
  • Act as principal point of contact for Land supply chain and SMEs at the Show
  • Support Operations and wider WDS2022 team in the event itself including: specialist hosting of technical delegations and visitors and attendance at the event (note: it may be necessary to provide 24 hour cover over the Show Days, in which case participation in a roster may be required)
  • Assist Land Director in compiling post Show report and strategy for future WDS events

This successful fulfilment of this role will enable the exhibition’s land component to showcase current and on-the-horizon land defense technologies through simulated and live equipment displays and demonstrations, exemplifying interoperability wherever possible, like nothing seen before.

SKILLS & BEHAVIOURS REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of Land, combined-arms and joint service military operations
  • Working with multi-national teams, military and senior gov depts
  • Light/heavy armoured vehicle command/instructor and/or range safety experience
  • 10-15 years of running complex projects and keeping to deadlines
  • Mentoring and liaison of foreign military counterparts
  • Knowledge or experience of major events (IDEX, DSEi, Eurosatory…)
  • Able to handle changes in priority and shifting workloads
  • Diplomacy and ability to work under pressure
