Welcome to the Fourth Industrial Revolution

Jan 25, 2021

The dawning of the new decade is heralding the advancement of the next industrial revolution, and one that is going to come much faster than those that preceded it. The fourth industrial revolution has a number of key benefits that draw on an array of technologies from every sector and seeks to improve the world through the adaptation of big new ideas and technology expected to play a significant role in revolutionizing the defense industry.

What is the fourth industrial revolution?

The development of the idea of the Fourth Industrial Revolution by Klaus Schwab in 2015 and 2016 has helped to focus global society and technologists into finding ways to leverage and deliver technological advantages to progress humanity and break down barriers to development.

This new industrial revolution is the joining together of a raft of modern technological advances across a variety of physical, digital, and biological realms and every possible sector. The technological advances that have helped to facilitate this new revolution come as enabling systems, such as robotics and automation, 3D printing, machine-to-machine communication, quantum computing, nanotechnology, and big data analytics mature in their application.

This new paradigm in manufacturing builds on the previous three that began with mechanization and evolved to improved communications systems and digitization. These revolutions helped to bring the world together and improve costs, production scale, and delivery speed to make the world we recognize today.
